Reconfigurable Autonomous Novel Guitar Effects (RANGE)
نویسندگان
چکیده
The RANGE guitar is a minimally-invasive hyperinstrument incorporating electronic sensors and integrated digital signal processing (DSP). It introduces an open framework for autonomous music computing eschewing the use of the laptop on stage. The framework uses an embedded Linux microcomputer to provide sensor acquisition, analogto-digital conversion (ADC) for audio input, DSP, and digitalto-analog conversion (DAC) for audio output. The DSP environment is built in Puredata (Pd). We chose Pd because it is free, widely supported, flexible, and robust. The sensors we selected can be mounted in a variety of ways without compromising traditional playing technique. Integration with a conventional guitar leverages established techniques and preserves the natural gestures of each player’s idiosyncratic performing style. The result is an easy to replicate, reconfigurable, idiomatic sensing and signal processing system for the electric guitar requiring little modification of the original instrument.

Tools for Reconfigurable Control System Comparisons for Autonomous Assembly Applications
Reconfigurable control systems are a key enabling technology for autonomous assembly, allowing for a single control system to maintain performance despite large mass property variations that occur from docking and undocking during assembly. There is a wide range of reconfigurable control systems that can be implemented, based on the amount of a priori information known to the designer. The rang...
متن کاملA Mobile Wireless Augmented Guitar
We present the design of a mobile augmented guitar based on traditional playing, combined with gesture-based continuous control of audio processing. Remote sound processing is enabled through our dynamically reconfigurable low-latency high-fidelity audio streaming protocol included in a mobile wearable wireless platform. Initial results show the suitability audio and sensors data forwarding ove...
متن کاملSelf-assembly in space via self-reconfigurable robots
Self-assembly systems in space are arguably within the reach of today’s technology based on the research and development of self-reconfigurable robots on earth. This paper presents an approach to self-assembly in space by developing (1) a novel design for intelligent and reconfigurable components; (2) the free-flying “intelligent fiber/rope” “match-maker” robots with self-reconfigurable and sel...
متن کاملA Mobile Self-reconfigurable Microrobot with Power and Communication Relays
A modular mobile self‐reconfigurable microrobot is developed to enlarge the whole surveillance range of mobile microrobot. The microrobot is designed as differential driven vehicle equipped with a passive universal connector with autonomic engagement/disengagement function, and actuated by MEMS‐based electromagnetic micromotors. To realize that the microrobot is autonomous, its electr...
متن کاملOn the complexity of classical guitar playing: functional adaptations to task constraints.
The authors performed a behavioral study of the complexity of left-hand finger movements in classical guitar playing. Six professional guitarists played movement sequences in a fixed tempo. Left-hand finger movements were recorded in 3 dimensions, and the guitar sound was recorded synchronously. Assuming that performers prefer to avoid extreme joint angles when moving, the authors hypothesized ...
